Summer is almost upon us and that means it’s time to make sure you have everything you need to plan a seamless packing and traveling experience.
Whether you’re going for a quick weekend away, or heading to Europe for two weeks, here are the essentials you’ll need to make your trip as smooth as possible.
First, let’s talk suitcases. If I’m traveling for more than a week, I’m probably going to bring a suitcase that’s larger than the standard carry-on size, but that’s because I’m a bit of a fashion hound and love to have extra shoes and outfit options. What can I say? I’m a work in progress. My favorite carry-on by far is this one from Nobl Travel. It has everything you need to keep your clothing and accessories, including a laptop, secure in the airport, as well as so many other user-friendly amenities that make it the perfect carry-on: 360° Spinner Wheels, TSA Locks, USB Charging Port, and Cup/Phone Holder. This carry-on has similar features, but is slightly less expensive.
So whether I’m traveling for two weeks or for just a couple of nights, I know how to pack everything I need in terms of toiletries and accessories into a small duffel or carry-on. There is no reason to bring a full size of anything skin or hair-care related in your bag. You’re going to want to save that precious space. The best way to do this is to find sample size sizes of whatever hair and skin care you use regularly and that you plan on using on your trip. If I can’t find the smaller sizes of items that I normally use, then I decant them into these small containers. They have wide mouth openings and are easy to open and close and fill up with your product products. This set is even magnetized and will stick together so they don’t get lost in your bag.
Speaking of toiletries is getting lost in your suitcase, I highly recommend using packing pouches to keep items grouped together so that they’re organized and able to easily be found. These and these are a great option— with a few different styles and colors to choose from.
Moving onto other things that are always in my bag whether I’m carrying on or checking: I always bring a hairdryer, even though hotels usually have them I prefer mine. But I am dying to try this new blowout brush. I plan on ordering one and trying it at home but if it works well, I may not bring a blow dryer on my next trip because this is way more compact.
Another appliance I always bring with me is a travel steamer. I never know if the hotel I’m staying at will have an iron and many dresses and other clothing items can’t be ironed. I prefer steaming and it also works for my husband‘s dress shirts and suits. This and this are both good options. If I’m traveling to Europe, I make sure to always have a few of these adapter converters in my bag. They are a must and they have different attachments that work in different countries. You definitely want a few to make sure your phones are charged overnight.
During the daytime I like these chargers for my phone. I always have one or two with me —they magnetize right to the back of my phone and can usually provide one full recharge of my phone while I’m out. Here is another option. Taking videos and pictures uses so much of the phone battery during the daytime when you’re sightseeing so this is a must.
That’s all for this week but be sure to check back for more travel tips as I’ll be sharing things I can’t leave home without as the travel season heats up!
